Roland Polk, 63, of Pearl River, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010. He loved music and was a singer with many bands in the Pearl River and Slidell area.

He is survived by his son Roland Polk Jr.; daughters, Tonya Talley and Lisa Polk; three brothers Neil, Lucien and Brett Polk, 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Griffin and Verna Polk; stepdaughter Jennifer Schmidt and sister Betty Ann Bunn.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the chapel of D.T. Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Hwy 41 Pearl River. Visitation will be Tuesday from 7-10 p.m., and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service time.

Interment will be in Parker Cemetery, Pearl River.

In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to help the family cover funeral expenses.

Sheriff and Slidell police on the hunt for armed robber

The armed robber, who is suspected of two armed robberies last week on Brownswitch Road and Robert Boulevard in Slidell, is also suspected for the robbery of the Blockbuster Video store at the corner of Gause Boulevard and Military Road Wednesday afternoon.
