Third St. Bernard man arrested in rape of girl

A third St. Bernard Parish man was arrested Thursday in an alleged six-person gang rape of a 13-year-old Lacombe girl, St. Bernard Sheriff Jack Stephens said Friday.

Louis Ceaser Jr., 35, 3405 Golden Drive, Apt. D, Chalmette, joined Cornell “Duke” Young, 31, 2320 Bartolo Drive, and Gabriel Nelson, 17, 2008 Walkers Lane, both of Meraux, in facing aggravated rape charges. The crime, if convicted, is punishable by a lifetime in prison.

The girl, who met her attackers on a telephone party line, had agreed to be picked up in person Jan. 11 by Nelson and Young. The two allegedly drove her to an apartment complex on Golden Drive in Chalmette, where a friend of the men lived but who wasn’t home, Stephens said.

Ceaser lived next door to the apartment, Stephens said.

The teenager said the men took turns having sex with her. One man, she claimed, even held her down, the sheriff said. She also alleged other men came to the apartment and had sexual contact with her.

Authorities were called after the alleged attackers took the girl home Sunday.

Detectives from the sheriff’s Juvenile Division, commanded by Maj. Darlene Poche, made the arrests and are working to identity others involved, the sheriff said.

Nelson has been released on a $200,000 property bond. Young and Ceaser are being held in lieu of the same amount of bond.
