RSS

RSS (REAL SIMPLE SYNDICATION)

What Is RSS?
RSS was originally developed by Netscape as a tool for building portals of headlines and links to mainstream news sites. Now, anyone can use RSS to monitor their favorite websites in one interface.

RSS Aggregators
In order to use RSS, you need a piece of software called a “news aggregator”. Some aggregators work as software you run on your computer. Others are web-based and permit readers to access their feeds from anywhere. In either case, you’ll need to provide the software with the URLs of the feeds you wish to follow (ours are listed below). Thereafter, the aggregator will keep track of your feeds, and you’ll know whenever new articles are published.

Some popular web-based readers include
Google Personalized Homepages
Bloglines,
Newsgator, and
My Yahoo, and there are many others.
