The Louisiana Knights 18s got their third season off to a great start taking an 8-2 victory over the Golden Spikes in game one of the Jackson 96ers Tournament held at Hinds Community College sparked by Chad Livingston’s three-run homer.

La. Knights 17/18 split in tourney to open season
The Louisiana Knights 17/18s captured their season opener, recording an 8-1 five-inning victory over the Jackson 96ers Blue Friday with starter Logan Peterson (1-0) recording the victory with four scoreless innings of work. He gave up just two hits with three strikeouts and one walk. Keller Douglas replaced Peterson and pitched the fifth inning, allowing an unearned run without giving up a hit. He registered two strikeouts with a walk.

Salmen and Pearl River combined to have seven players named first team all-district for 9-4A.

Beau Trist
St. Paul’s recent graduate Beau Trist, who graduated with honors, was a three-year starter for the Wolves’ baseball team. Trist, the starting right fielder, helped lead St. Paul’s to a 24-6 record and into the quarterfinals of the Class 5A state baseball playoffs. St. Paul’s fell to C. E. Byrd 13-3 at Denham Springs. Trist finished his senior season, batting an impressive .422, fourth best on the team. He drove in 30 runs, while scoring 27 times. He finished with nine doubles, one triple and one home run along with eight stolen bases in 12 attempts.
